Sri Lanka has won the Micromax Cup final in Rangiri International Cricket Stadium of Dambulla. It is a convincing win for Sri Lanka. Moreover, it is also an end of Dhoni’s winning streak against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka.  This win has at least once again made the shortcomings of the Indian batsmen on moving or swinging tracks public.  Most of the Indian batsmen once again fell flat in front of fast and bouncing deliveries up to chest height. Sri Lankan bowlers knew it and they made the most of this shortcoming of all the batsmen.

First of Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara won the coin toss. Kumar Sangakkara decides to bat first. It was looking like a bowler friendly track. So Indian bowlers had been given a golden opportunity by the Sri Lankan skipper. But instead of making the most of this track Indian bowlers made the mess of everything. They gave lot of width out side the off-stump and on leg stump too. Especially this mistake was done before ferocious Tilakratne Dilshan.

After deciding to bat first Sri Lankan opener came in the ground and started blasting the Indian bowling attack right from the word go. Both Mahela Jaywardene and Tilakratne Dilshan took Sri Lanakn team off to a flying start. Both of them added 121 runs for the partnership of the first wicket. Mahela Jaywardene was the first man to get out and he made 39 runs. After the fall of Jaywardene’s wicket Indian team soon got another chance to cheer when Upul Thranga also got out cheaply. But after this Sri Lankan captain himself came into the ground. Sri Lankan captain Sangakkara not only made runs and kept the run rate high but he also developed a huge partnership with Dilshan. This partnership led the foundation of a big score for Sri Lanka.

This strong and deep foundation led by Dilshan and Sangakkara helped Sri Lankan team in posting a total of 299 runs on the board. Now team India had a tough task of overcoming the giant total posted by Sri Lanka for winning the Micromax Mobile Cup in Dambulla’s Rangiri International Cricket Stadium.

Chasing 300 runs for a victory was always going to be a hard nut to crack for men in blue. Especially it was not easy when Indian batting has fluctuated throughout the tournament.

In order to reach the destination of 300 runs team India needed a glorious start from the blade of opener Dinesh Kartik and Virender Sehwag. But once again this Delhi daredevil pair disappointed everyone. Dinesh kartik’s poor form in the tournament continued and he again made 0.On the other hand Sehwag got off to a great start but played a reckless and unnecessary stroke and got out on 28 runs.

After this the man who came in and got off to a great start was Yuvraj Singh from Kingz XI Punjab who too played a poor stroke and got out.

After the fall of Yuvraj Singh’s wicket Virat Kohli joined Indian captain Mahender Singh Dhoni. Virat Kohli played some superb strokes and made well made 37 runs. He was looking well after getting a great start. But once again he too gave his wicket at no cost to Sri Lankan team in front of rising delivery at full pace. He played an irresponsible stroke and gave away his wicket as a gift to Sri Lankan team.

So far Indian team was in all sorts of trouble. But after this Suresh Raina of Chennai Super kings came into the ground and started a recue operation in the company of his team mate and skipper of national team Mahender Singh Dhoni. Young Suresh Raina from Chennai Super Kings played some frantic strokes in his small innings but he too left the Indian skipper alone in the battlefield after making 28 runs. This young lad from Chennai Super Kings also played a stroke that displays the height of irresponsibility among the players.

This was not enough so far. After this another wicket fell that was of Rohit Sharma of Deccan Chargers Hyderabad. Rohit Sharma made only 5 runs and got out stumped against Suraj Randiv. Although he was unfortunate to get out in this way yet he can not be spared because he too wanted to use arial root against Randiv without reaching the pitch of the ball. For this stroke his head was somewhere else and balance was also not great. So he missed the ball and ball when behind the wicket. After the ball reached behind the wicket and Sri Lankan Captain And wicket-keeper Kumar Sangakkara tried to gather the ball but he failed. But the ball struck his pads and came back and dislodged the bails from behind. So we can say that he was unlucky to get out in this style but his stroke was too an example of indiscipline.

Now the whole the responsibility of winning the whole battle came on the shoulders of Indian captain Mahender Singh Dhoni. Now Praveen Kumar joined him on the pitch with the reputation of a big hitter. But he too got undone by a superb bowling of Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga.

So far Sri Lankan bowling attack had applied rust on all the big cannons of Indian. Owing to being applied rust no cannon could fire the cannon ball in a proper and accurate direction using gumption and experience. Indian skipper deserves lot of praise for his lonely effort. Mahender Singh Dhoni kept on fighting a lost battle till the end alone.

But Cricket is a team game so it needs a purposeful effort made in a right direction using whole gumption and experience. But no Indian player except Dhoni realized the importance of converting a good start into a big inning. Wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals.

But nobody could stay with skipper Dhoni and help him in reaching the target. Dhoni fought bravely. But his alone effort was not enough to beat Sri Lanka. In this way whole Indian team gout all out on 225 and Sri Lankan team won the final match and Micromax Mobile cup by 74 runs.

Dhoni remained the top scorer for India with 67 runs. He was the last man to get out. Dilshan was the top scorer of the match with 110 runs. For his breathtaking and math winning innings Dilshan got the award of man of the match. Delhi dasher Virender Sehwag got the award of man of the series.

This match has proved at least one thing that all the Indian players are more honest towards their IPL teams and franchises. This Sri Lanka Vs India final match will also be remembered as a proof that no one except Dhoni was representing India in the match. Everybody was representing Kingz XI Punjab, Chennai Super Kings, Deccan Chargers, Hyderabad, and Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Daredevils and Kolkata Night Riders in this crunch match that was being played at international level between the two countries where every player plays for the respect of his nation.
