Today’s IPL match has the two radically opposite teams clashing as the Chennai Super Kings taken on Kings XI Punjab. Both these two teams have a common characteristic which is consistency.
While the Chennai team has gone on from strength to strength winning the title last year and then winning the inter club series.
Punjab XI on the other hand lacked consistency as a result with each passing match they have slide down. Will Adam Gilchrist manage top hold the slide is any body’s guess.
What however is apparent that the present team is not likely to cover up for the last couple of season’s insipid performance.
Incidentally, both the Chennai Super Kings and the Kings XI are led by wicket keepers. Both of them have the capability and capacity to single handedly win a battle. But that’s where the similarity comes to an end.
The CSK bosses made a smart move by retaining the talent while the Punjab team is already feeling the pressure.
Till last year the best and the worst of the teams did not have much of a gap. But the two teams have exposed the widening gap between the worst and the best teams. Although one over makes or breaks the fortunes in this T20 format but the prediction in the present IPL edition is becoming easier.
The Kings XI Punjab need to pull up their socks if they have to stay in fray. Adam Gilchrist will have to put in all his experience to rejuvenate the team.
