NZ vs SL

The Sri Lanka vs New Zealand 4th ODI has been washed out due to heavy rains at the Dambulla pitch. Sri Lanka was nearing a comfortable total when the rains wrecked havoc forcing the match to get called off. They were 203 for 3 after 43 overs.

Despite a good start, the hosts went through a slow batting pace in the mid overs but gained momentum later. Tillakaratne Dilshan gave the team a terrific start by managing 61 runs of the first ten overs, but post the return of Dilshan and Sangakkara, the runflow seemed restricted. The Lankans could score only 70 runs in the next 20 overs. However, the spirited Jayawardene and Silva displayed their skills and piled up 72 runs off 84 balls. The former scored 59, while Silva managed 41.

New Zealand on the other remained fairly successful in blocking the flow of runs. They had selected to bowl letting Lanka to bat under moist conditions.  Styris and Oram displayed efficient bowling skills at the slow pitch and kept the batsmen under tension. They conceded just 34 runs in 12 overs and the Lankans too preferred to remain cautious and reverted to risk aversion techniques. However, they lavishly exploited Kyle Mills and Daryl Tuffey to manage multiples and gather momentum to the score.
