Sri Lanka Tri Series
The upcoming triseries in Sri Lanka between India, New Zealand and SriLanka is looked upon as a trial for the next year’s world cup in the sub continent. The venue is Dambulla, the Lankan commercial centre and home to the holy Golden Cave temple, a UNESO world heritage monument.
It has emerged as one of the favorite and most frequented cricketing venues with its moderate climate and better pitch. The tri series shall offer the opportunity to each country to test their capabilities well ahead of the world cup and also improve their one day rankings.
The first place is occupied by Australia who is comfortably ahead of the second by 14 points. But the fact that the next five teams just have a seven point difference between them is good enough for them to vie for a better spot. India is currently ranked second, while New Zealand and Sri Lanka are placed fourth and sixth respectively.
The hosts remain the favorites, and with the likes of Samaraweera and Kapugedera, the batting issues are likely to die down. India is arriving with a younger squad, while the Kiwis are riding high on the warm up wins against the Lankans.
