England vs Australia
Kieswetter and Pietersen were definitely the duo to look out for the T20 final. They definitely sealed the victory for England.their invincible 111-run stand for the second wicket certainly stople all the limelight and reserved the victory for the team England.
Though Hussy gave them a tough fight with his 59 from 54 balls, but the whole team gave an extremely dismal performance and the team lost its sole hope to win the cup when the batsmen gave away within 13 deliveries in the opening.
Chasing the target of 148 became too easy a task for the opposition The Achilles heal was Australia’s spineless middle order which gave a brutal start to the match. It never seemed that they are paying at the finale match of World Cup.on the other hand the bowlers of England were marching since the begning though in due course Hussy gave some relief to Australia but there was not a single other bats man to support him.the 3 wickets wickets fall proved fatal to the whole team and resulted in their loss.
With Cameron White basting 30 invaluable runs from 19 balls, and then Michael Hussey besetting 17 from 10 to keep up with his amazing performance in the semi-final match against Pakistan, Australia did manage to add 100 runs in the final ten overs to put themselves in competition to win the cup but England would maintain their average of 7.4 and reign the whole tournament.
The beginning was quite sensational as Australia shattered to 8 for 3 with a wicket in each of the very first three overs. Ryan Sidebottom, who was taken in after much controversy proved miraculously great and settled England’s nerves and worsened the already red situation of Australians by further removing Shane Watson with the third delivery of the match.
It wasn’t though that just after one over, the leathal David Warner was run out for 2. And before Australia had had any time to regroup or resurface, they were again got a major blow as Brad Haddin was adjudged caught behind off his hip. What a brilliant caught by a full-stretch Kieswetter – as Sidebottom snaffled his second.
The effect of these early breakthroughs proved the greatest of help to the team of England. the pitch sided the seamers to bend their backs and they were sensibly sparing with the short ball and undividable lengths. Had Lumb’s aim been slightly better, he might have added two further run-outs from short cover.
It wasn’t until Clarke in the fifth over that Australia had their 1st four, & though he added a 2nd when the score was 34 for 3 after 7 overs. Then Eng went with their spinners, Swann & Michael Yardy for further destruction. And when Collingwood leapt superbly at short midwicket to grab Clarke, Australia had already slumped to 45 for 4 in the tenth over.
Though, Cameron White had the power and the intent to lift the losing Australian team and made his move in the 13th over but it was too late. And with david hussy then going out, the Auatralians were too wounded to rise again.
